A zenekar ötlete 2006 nyarán fogant meg egy olyan stílus megalkotásának reményében, amely nemcsak az itthoni, de az Európai zeneiparban sem mondható mindennapinak. Rengeteg stílust ötvözve, a koncepció egy olyan zene megalkotása volt, amely Gótikus vonalat követve tiszta női énekhanggal fűszerezett, de ugyanakkor modern, és „zenei kihívásokban" gazdagabb. Az igencsak előtérbe helyezett szimfonikus darabok, és a sötét hangulatú, néha már-már progresszív gitártémák, egy lenyűgöző és dallamos női énekhanggal „megpuhítva" jellemzik a VelvetSeal zenéjét, amely hamar nyomot hagyhat a hallgatóságban.
Egy kizárólag e célból készült promóciós lemez megalkotásának köszönhetően a zenekar 2007 Áprilisában, nem sokkal megalakulása után már egy színpadon debütálhatott a Gothica fesztiválon a műfaj legnagyobb nemzetközi és hazai képviselőivel.
A zenekar 2008-ban elkészítette első nagylemezét, amely igencsak népszerű fogadtatásra lelt. Magazinok, webzinek, kiadók világszerte(DE/USA/UK/NL/MEX/FR) igen elismerően cikkeztek a debütáló nagylemezről, és megleően rögtön a műfaj mellé helyezték nevüket, nem egy webzine a 2008-as év reménységének nevezve a zenekart.
Talán ennek is köszönhető, hogy a VelvetSeal nemrég leszerződhetett egy nemzetközi kiadóval, melynek gondozásában 2009 májusában a legtöbb országban megjelentetheti nagylemezét. Mindemellett, a lemezkritikáknak köszönhetően nevük hamar elterjedhetett a műfaj nemzetközi kedvelői közt, és internetes honlapjuk www.velvetseal.com és www.myspace.com/velvetseal igencsak magas látogatottságra tett szert, ami egy debütálás előtt álló zenekar esetében szinte egyedülálló.
A lemez hazai megjelenése a Hammer Music (HMP) együtműködésével történik, melynek szárnyai alatt már számos magyar zenekar bizonyított az elmúlt időkben. A most megjelenő lemez remélhetőleg a zenekar nevét hamarosan hazánkban is szélesebb körben ismertté teheti.
The initial idea of VelvetSeal was formed in the summer of 2006 as a side project of Gabriella (Gabee-vocals) and Csaba (Csabee-guitars, composing), in hope of creating a slightly new approach in the female fronted metal world, beside their ongoing local band. Unfortunately being not easy to find the right people to play with, the current line-up and the first songs were not born untill late winter 2006. That’s when David( bass) and Balázs ( Drums, percussion) joined, and VelvetSeal was soon realized to be much more then a side project, but more a potential band. The musicians were all known in Hungary for their previous works, all of them have played on several albums, either as a member or session player in the past.
The band released a 4 track promotional demo early in 2007, which was very well apprecietad in the hungarian media ( Metal hammer review, where VelvetSeal was quoted to be a great, potential band to „represent” Hungary in this music scene) , and had the chance to debut on one of the major events in Hungary in the Gothic/Dark genre, the Gothica Fest 6.66, where they had the opportunity of sharing stage and playing together with bands like Deathstars, Battlelore, Mandargora Scream ( just a few to mention). The band then have spent most of 2007 writing songs and recording their first album, which has recently been finished.
In the meantime thanks to their website and their mayspace sites, , the band’s name became more and more known amongst the fans of female fronted music, and received excellent feedback from fans all from all around the world, ranging from Mexico to Europe. Their Myspace site reached high numbers without having spent great efforts on advertising, and promoting, which could be considered unique in their country.
This is why the basic concept of the band is, even though being located now in Hungary, would strongly concentrate in becoming known not primarly in in their own country, but in as many markets as possible, and thus, hopes to find an international label to support them with this .
With the huge symphonic arrangements, and modern synth grooves accompanied by heavy, modern riffs, and softened by the clean beautiful vocals of Gabee makes their music a unique blend of gothic and dark metal, that will hopefully soon be welcomed by the fans around the world.
